The firm’s first articling student in 1970. For most of his career he practised civil litigation appearing before the Courts in matters ranging from insurance litigation to employment and labour law. He appeared before a number of administrative tribunals and arbitration boards in a wide variety of matters. He has acted as Counsel for provincial statutory boards and for the Province of Alberta.
His current practise is limited to advising two long standing clients and acting as a labour arbitrator in both the public and private sectors.
He has lectured articling students on legal ethics and was active on committees of the Alberta Branch of the Canadian Bar Association for a number of years.

A native Calgarian, Mr. Amantea articled with the firm of Warren, Raymaker & Stewart (now known as Warren Tettensor Amantea LLP) in 1977 and was admitted to the Bar in 1978 and then became a partner of the law firm on February 1, 1982. Initially, he carried on a general practice dealing in large part with matters related to real estate, construction law, foreclosures and builder's liens. Since becoming a partner of Warren Tettensor Amantea LLP, Mr. Amantea has concentrated his practice in the areas of residential and commercial real estate and real estate development, multi-family acquisitions and other real estate related matters. He also provides legal services and advice to small and medium-sized private companies and sits on the Board of Directors of Mainstreet Equity Corp, which is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Mr. Benson's practice has focused primarily on corporate, business and real estate law matters, including business acquisitions, financing and divestitures, development, construction and builders' liens, real estate transactions and financing. Mr. Benson has experience in the review and drafting of a broad range of agreements, including purchase and sale, loan and security, construction, financing, franchise, sponsorship and restructuring agreements, leases and other documentation arising out of transactions involving a broad range of clients, including oil and gas matters and matters relating to contractor insolvency.
Mr. Benson's clients include educational institutions, sports franchises, airlines, not-for-profit organizations, professionals, individuals and businesses involved in enterprises in many sectors of the economy.
Since 1992, Mr. Benson has advised the Alberta New Home Warranty Program in connection with legal matters relating to builder insolvency, builders’ liens and construction completion matters under the Program’s Builder Performance Protection.
Mr. Benson has acted as counsel to the Western Hockey League since 2004, providing legal advice to the Western Hockey League in all areas of its business operations.
Bob is active in his community as a member of the Board of Directors of the Varsity Community Association and has had extensive involvement in amateur hockey with the Crowchild Hockey Association at the team level since 2000 and as a member of the Board of Directors and President since 2006.

Mr. Ellery graduated from the Faculty of Law at the University of Alberta in 1981. He articled with the predecessor firm of Warren, Raymaker & Stewart and became a partner on February 1st, 1986.
Through his career, Mike has focused his practice in the area of civil litigation and has appeared in Provincial Court, the Court of Queen’s Bench and the Court of Appeal in Alberta. As well, he has considerable mediation and arbitration experience in the Province.
Mike has extensive experience in the area of employment law (including wrongful dismissal), personal injury work (including serious and traumatic injuries), matrimonial disputes and estate litigation. He has acted for a major international oil company with respect to various legal matters and is legal counsel for a private school in Calgary.

Mr. Dunphy articled with the firm of Warren Tettensor LLP and is also a professional accountant. Mr. Dunphy became a Partner of the law firm on January 1, 2000.
At the time he left Revenue Canada to begin his legal studies, Mr. Dunphy was a senior manager in the Business Audit Division of the Calgary District Taxation Office. While attending law school, Mr. Dunphy worked two summers for the law firm [Bell] Felesky, Flynn, a nationally recognized law firm specializing in tax matters.
Mr. Dunphy’s main area of interest is in corporate and commercial law, with an emphasis on tax matters, both personal (including estate planning) and corporate. His experience at Revenue Canada equips him well to assist with disputes our clients may have with the Canada Revenue Agency or to represent our clientele in the Tax Court of Canada. Jim is also a trade-mark agent and practices protection of the intellectual property of our clients.
Mr.Dunphy also provides advice in the not-for-profit sector, including advice to pension and benefit plans, registered charities and educational institutions. He has the responsibility of overseeing all matters involving income tax or GST issues on behalf of the firm.

DENISE A. WHITELEY

Denise Whiteley is a partner at WTA and was admitted to the bar in 1998. She obtained her Bachelor or Arts in Psychology at the University of Calgary and her Bachelor of Laws at the University of Alberta.
Denise has a banking and litigation practise with an emphasis on foreclosure law and acts for Canadian Chartered Banks, mortgage and trust companies. She has acted in numerous residential mortgage enforcement matters and in the enforcement of other securities.
She has appeared as counsel before all court levels in Alberta, including Tax Court of Canada and a number of professional and administrative tribunals.

Mr. Kachur grew-up in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alberta in 2005 and went on to also earn his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Alberta in 2008. Mr. Kachur is currently an associate with Warren Tettensor Amantea LLP.
Mr. Kachur has dealt with matters in a variety of areas including both corporate and litigation work. His practice includes civil litigation, general business transactions, corporate matters, builders’ lien matters, and real estate.
Involvement
Throughout law school Mr. Kachur was heavily involved as a writer and actor in law show. He also volunteered his time through Student Legal Services to aid students, ESL individuals and members of the low-income community in the greater Edmonton area and to assist them with their legal matters. In addition, Mr. Kachur was also actively involved in the University of Alberta law school’s "Cuts for the Cure" campaign against cancer.
Mr. Kachur was also heavily involved in sports including playing for the law school hockey team, ultimate Frisbee team, volleyball team as well as being the President of the Golden Bearristers law rugby team. Mr. Kachur was also the Co-Founder of the Law Fitness club.
Currently Mr. Kachur is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Calgary Bar association.
