A native Calgarian, Mr. Amantea articled with the firm of Warren, Raymaker & Stewart (now known as Warren Tettensor Amantea LLP) in 1977 and was admitted to the Bar in 1978 and then became a partner of the law firm on February 1, 1982. Initially, he carried on a general practice dealing in large part with matters related to real estate, construction law, foreclosures and builder's liens. Since becoming a partner of Warren Tettensor Amantea LLP, Mr. Amantea has concentrated his practice in the areas of residential and commercial real estate and real estate development, multi-family acquisitions and other real estate related matters. He also provides legal services and advice to small and medium-sized private companies and sits on the Board of Directors of Mainstreet Equity Corp, which is listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

ROBERT A. BENSON

Mr. Benson's practice has focused primarily on corporate, business, sports and real estate law matters, including business acquisitions, financing and divestitures, development, construction and builders' liens, real estate transactions and financing. Mr. Benson has experience in review and drafting of a broad range of agreements, including purchase and sale, loan and security, construction, financing, franchise, sponsorship and restructuring agreements, leases and other documentation arising out of transactions in various areas, including oil and gas matters and matters relating to contractor insolvency.
Mr. Benson's clients include businesses involved in enterprises in many sectors of the economy, as well as educational institutions, sports franchises, aircraft leasing, not-for-profit organizations, professionals and individuals.
Since 1992, Mr. Benson has advised the Alberta New Home Warranty Program in connection with legal matters relating to builder insolvency, builders’ liens and construction completion matters under the Program’s Builder Performance Protection.
Mr. Benson has acted as counsel to the Western Hockey League since 2004, providing legal advice to the Western Hockey League in all areas of its business operations, including franchise transfers and relocations, and various other matters relating to the League and its twenty-two member franchises.
Bob is active in his community with Varsity Community Association as Vice-President since 2006 and as a member of the Board of Directors since 2003. He has had extensive involvement in amateur sport with the Crowchild Hockey Association at the team level since 2000, as President 2006-2009 and as a member of the Board of Directors since 2006. Bob has assisted the North West Calgary Athletic Association and the Calgary Aquabelles Synchronized Swimming Club in various advisory roles since 2007 and 2010 respectively. He has been a member of Mount Royal University Foundation’s Planned Giving Committee since 2005.

TARA L. PETERSEN B.N.

Tara Petersen is a partner at WTA and was admitted to the bar in 1995. She obtained her Bachelor of Laws at the University of Calgary. She also holds a Bachelor of Nursing and practiced as an emergency room nurse.
Tara’s practice involves a broad range of civil litigation and dispute resolution matters with an emphasis on construction litigation and currently fraud litigation. Tara has had significant exposure in multi-party litigations.
Tara has substantial motion and trial experience. She is a qualified mediator and is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and has been an executive member of the Civil Law Section of the Canadian Bar Association. She has been a guest speaker at many seminars and is involved in judging at the bar ads annually.

Mr. Hooey articled with the predecessor firm of Warren Tettensor Amantea LLP, joined the firm as an Associate in 1996 and joined the Partnership of the law firm in January, 2003. Brent completed both the Certified General Accountants tax course and the CICA indepth tax courses. He is a member of the Canadian Tax Foundation and the Society of Tax and Estate Practitioners.
Brent practices all aspects of business law, with particular emphasis on corporate, government, commercial transactions, real estate, financing (equity and debt), estate planning and tax related matters. He acts for a diverse group of clients including owner-manager businesses, technology companies, construction companies, oilfield companies, property managers and farming operations.

DENISE A. WHITELEY

Denise Whiteley is a partner at WTA and was admitted to the bar in 1998. She obtained her Bachelor or Arts in Psychology at the University of Calgary and her Bachelor of Laws at the University of Alberta.
Denise has a banking and litigation practice with an emphasis on foreclosure law and acts for Canadian Chartered Banks, mortgage and trust companies. She has acted in numerous residential mortgage enforcement matters and in the enforcement of other securities.
She has appeared as counsel before all court levels in Alberta, including Tax Court of Canada and a number of professional and administrative tribunals.
Denise is an executive member of the Foreclosure Section of the Canadian Bar Association in Calgary and a member of the Canadian Bar Association. She has presented at a number of seminars including presentations on behalf of LESA and the CGA Association.

Jon has completed the CICA 2002 In-depth Goods and Services Tax Course and has broadened his practice in regards to matters of this nature. These tax services have been provided to both businesses and individuals.

Born and raised in Quebec City, Ms. Kratt graduated in 2000 from the Université Laval in Quebec City with a Civil Law Degree. She articled with the firm of Pouliot L’Ecuyer in Quebec City in 2001-2002 and was admitted to the Bar of the Province of Quebec in May 2002. In August 2003, Ms. Kratt attended the University of Manitoba where she graduated in April 2004 with a Common Law Degree. She articled with the firm of Warren Tettensor Amantea LLP in 2004-2005 and was admitted to the Bar of the Province of Alberta in May 2005. Ms. Kratt joined the firm as an associate in May 2005.
Ms. Kratt’s practice is primarily in the residential and commercial real estate area, including acquisitions and dispositions, project development and management, joint ventures, leasing and financing. Ms. Kratt also practices in the area of corporate and commercial law.

MATTHEW K. KACHUR

Mr. Kachur grew-up in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. He earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alberta in 2005 and went on to also earn his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Alberta in 2008. Mr. Kachur completed his articling with Warren Tettensor Amantea LLP and is now an associate. Mr. Kachur currently volunteer with the University of Calgary Student Legal Assistance program.
Mr. Kachur has dealt with matters in a variety of areas including both corporate and litigation work. His practice includes civil litigation, general business transactions, corporate matters, builders’ lien matters, and real estate.
Involvement
Throughout law school Mr. Kachur was heavily involved as a writer and actor in law show. He also volunteered his time through Student Legal Services to aid students, ESL individuals and members of the low-income community in the greater Edmonton area and to assist them with their legal matters. In addition, Mr. Kachur was also actively involved in the University of Alberta law school’s "Cuts for the Cure" campaign against cancer.
Mr. Kachur was also heavily involved in sports including playing for the law school hockey team, ultimate Frisbee team, volleyball team as well as being the President of the Golden Bearristers law rugby team. Mr. Kachur was also the Co-Founder of the Law Fitness club.
Currently Mr. Kachur is a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Calgary Bar association.

Mr. Tse practice focuses primarily in the area of matrimonial law, but includes a broad range of civil litigation work.
